    If you're thinking about signing up for the police academy, you have a few choices to make. You can choose to become what's called "sponsored" or "pre-service." Sponsored simply means a police department has employed you and is also paying so that you can finish the police academy.   5. Carjacking Suspect Kills Self During Police Chase

    The suspect wanted for a local carjacking killed himself early this morning during a high-speed police chase after he is suspected of committing two robberies in Amarillo, police said. Dyone Deshun Johnson, 24, shot himself as Amarillo police closed in on him, according to Lubbock and Amarillo Police.

    Johnson is suspected of a robbery and an attempted carjackings in Amarillo overnight.
    He was wanted by Lubbock police for an armed carjacking on March 21 in Lubbock.
