Understanding the police oral board is
the key to your success. Failure to prepare
is critical.
This
video should serve as a reminder to officers how easy it is to
find yourself on the other side of the law. As a police
officer, I've driven fast many times to calls that didn't
warrant it, especially later at night because there's not as
much traffic. However, police officers should always
remind themselves "Would I be justified at these speeds if a kid
ran out in front of me?" This is the exact question I
always ask myself when driving fast in my police car. As
police officers, we find ourselves trying to do that little
"extra" to get to the call that really doesn't warrant the
speeds involved. We simply cannot do that, or face the
music if something bad happens. In this case, two teens
were killed as a result and the officer was suspended and
charged criminally. He will also likely be sued civilly.
